The Animals Are Winning

Marsha took Geiger into the Vet this week. The fancy, expensive food seems to have made little difference with his gingivitis. Not really sure though if the little improvement we’ve seen is because of the food's special benefits or because Geiger hasn’t been eating. It became a test of wills and sorry to say Geiger won. The final straw came when the vet weighed Geiger and found he’d lost a pound in the last two weeks. In an eleven pound cat that’s a bit too much, too fast. He’s not skinny yet, but the Vet told us he shouldn’t lose too much more. So out with the bad food, and they are back on California Naturals Herring and Sweet Potato, the stuff Geiger’s been eating since kittenhood.

Herring and Sweet Potato? How in the heck did they come up with THAT?

Well, whatever, they both like it and that’s what counts. Actually, it’s been a good week for animals in general around here. There was the dog that escaped from a yard in Montreal last year that turned up in Kamloops BC this week. They suspect she hopped a train.  http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/07/06/bc-montreal-dog-kamloops-journey.html She's a nine year old dog so I figure it must have been a mid-life crisis thing.

Then there was the biker that realized she was being hunted by a cougar. She scared it off but they haven’t captured the cat yet. It’s still on the loose.http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/07/05/bc-cougar-nanaimo.html. The most interesting part wasn’t what happened as much as where. This wasn’t some remote village on the west coast of the island. This was here in Nanaimo, across the road from where we used to work. In fact it was a couple miles closer to the centre of town than where we live now.

Add to this the series of bear attacks that have happened in the Province this week and the town of Kimberly that is overrun by deer that are attacking people and one thought comes to mind

So…just why is moving further out in the woods a good idea?

It’s OK though, we have Geiger to protect us.

We're on the road this week so updates might be a little hit and miss for a while.
