A Busy Week

This week Marsha and I have been fighting colds. Not severe, hey you need to stay home and live off kleenex and Nyquil kind of colds. No more of the, blow your noise every two minutes until it’s raw and feel like heck while you do all of your normal stuff kind. I keep trying to convince Marsha that they aren’t colds. I keep blaming pollen from the palm tree in front of the house and that’s another reason why it has to be taken out. It’s not working. Understand there’s more than enough reason to take the palm tree out. It’s too big and too close to the house, it rattles on the window when the wind blows, it’s so tall it scrapes against the soffit, and it blocks our picture window so we can’t see anything. But no Marsha likes it so it stays. Sigh...

This week was the last run of Memory of Water at Festival. It went fairly well, not perfect but good. You could tell we had been off for three weeks since the regular run ended, and there were a couple of technical miscues because we were using unfamiliar equipment in a different theatre but overall it went well. Haven’t heard anything so I assume that means we aren’t going to the provincial competition. Oh well, we’re still very proud of what we created. I’ll miss Mike.

But yesterday I had an audition for another play. Ladysmith theatre is doing a couple of radio plays on stage. We'll be standing there reading from scripts, doing sound effects, and playing different characters. It'll be as if the audience is setting in the corner while we put out a live radio broadcast.

This weekend we have visitors. Kurt, Sue and Joel are with us for a few days. We are getting to do all the touristy stuff we never do normally. Why is that? Why do people never go see and do stuff in their own area? I understand that people in New York seldom take the time to visit the Statue of liberty or empire State Building. People living in Paris never climb the Eiffel tower or the Louvre. People in Washington DC never take in the monuments. People in Orlando don’t visit the Space Centre. People living in Kansas City never go and see... Um, don’t drive along... Uh, don’t ski down the... OK bad example, but for the rest of us it’s like a vacation is predicated on going somewhere else. Odd.

So this weekend we’ve been running about having fun. I’ll have to cut this short because we need to take off for Coombs and points west.
