This week was busy. Work was crazy, with our schedules all shuffled around for some special projects. We had planned on going to a lecture on the tectonic history of Vancouver Island but with everything else going on we ended up skipping it. It would have been a late night for us as the lecture wouldn't get over until after 9:00.
We also were preparing for our first visitors. Silas, a friend of ours from the University visited this weekend. He and a couple of friends arrived on the ferry from Vancouver on Saturday. We spent much of the afternoon catching up on events back in Minnesota, and (for Silas and Marsh) talking about work at FSS. For dinner we had gotten all of the stuff for Personal Pizzas. That way everyone could have what they liked. After dinner we went down to Pipers Pub, a nearby bar where my cousin Mike was playing. It was a fun evening. Sunday we got up early and went out for a sumptuous breakfast at Tim Horton's, a very nice, very classy restaurant found only in Canada. After strawberry crepes, exotic pastries, and juices we went out to Neck-Point Park. We cavorted, took pictures, and Silas and Marsh continued to talk about the University
Silas brought a bag of goodies from the States that included Post Grape Nuts, Babe Ruth, Butterfingers and Almond Joy. The goodie bag also included homemade caramels from Leslie and some gloves. What a great surprise. We have been enjoying all of it.
Then we took them back to the ferry and bid them farewell. For the rest of the afternoon we napped.
Today I (Marsha) started a 4 week class that hopefully will help me find a better job. I have switched my hours at NCO to be from 5-8:15 and then I go to class from 9:00-3:30 so the next few weeks are going to be very busy. But at the end of it, hopefully I will find a better job. The one I have is ok but I am ready for a change.
