Local Elections Are Done. Yippee!!
17/11/08 05:53
The local elections took place on Saturday and on Sunday folks were busy picking up the many signs scattered around town. The elections were for mayor, city council, school board and such. The big change was that we will have a new mayor, John Ruttan with 46% of the votes. The incumbent mayor came in third with only 16%. That was the big excitement for the week.
Last week was my first week at the new job. I am working at the Customer Service desk at the Real Canadian Super Store and so far I am really enjoying it. The Customer Service desk is where everyone has to go if they want to purchase cigarettes and I am getting a real education on how many different kinds and brands there are. The first day I felt like everyone was speaking a foreign language when they came up to the desk for their cigarette purchase. BC no longer allows cigarette or smoking items to be displayed out in the open so everything is in a very large cabinet (8 different doors). I am getting some what better but am still regularly confused. The good things is that most of the customers know exactly where in the big case the cigarettes are so that helps.
I met to get this out before I left to walk with Barbara this morning, but since I did not, I now have some pictures to share. Barbara and I walked around the mall this morning while waiting for the oil to be changed on her car. On my way home I decided to stop by Piper's Lagoon for another walk since the day was so nice. So the pictures are from there. Enjoy and have a great day.
By the way, the BC Lions lost to Calgary on Saturday so they will not be in this year's Grey Cup. Oh darn.
The ferry is in the back ground just coming into port.

The moon over a rocky hill by the beach

I climbed up a little hill to get a better view. In the distance is the mountains and you can seem some of the fog over the ocean. The Nanaimo airport was fogged in this morning.

More fog
