Dragon Boats are Back

Doug is off to work this morning. T-Mobile added some enhancements to one of their main applications. The changes will be very helpful for not only for the folks working Customer Care but also for the T-Mobile customers, especially those that do not want to send or receive text messages. This week also starts our new shifts and new teams. They originally had me scheduled for full time and after getting that fixed back to my part time schedule I have been switched to 3 different teams. When I left on Friday they still did not have my schedule correct, but I am showing up on Monday anyway and will work with my new supervisor to get it straightened out.

Doug and I have been kicking around the idea of getting another cat. So on Thursday I stopped by the SPCA to check out the cats there. They had quite a few and I ending up spending almost 2 hours there playing and petting the various cats. There was one cat who seemed very happy to be petted. What I did not know is that he only wants one pet and after that he goes crazy and attacks you. So yes, he got me good mostly with his claws, but I had to get a kleenex to stop the bleeding. Needless to say I stayed away from him for the rest of my visit.

The CFL season has started again. The BC Lions have not started out well so I did not expect much when watching the game on Friday. Boy, was I surprised by how well they did, beating Winnipeg. We went to bed when they started subbing in players so the first stringers won't get hurt. Last we saw was when it was 42-5 and they were putting in the third string QB, the Coaches son, and the owners chauffeur. The final was 42-24 but the game was not that close. The BC Lions CEO died earlier this week so it was WIN ONE FOR BOB and they certainly came through.

I also got to see the Twins beat Detroit on Saturday. It was a close one so a good game to watch.

Speaking of sports, there is a big soccer match going on in Europe. In honor of it Der Spiegel has a collection of the best quotes from soccer personalities. Like the player who said "Football is like chess only without the dice." It's good to know that NASCAR announcers don't have a monopoly on dumb statements.

And another amazing bit. This week we fueled the cars. No that's not the amazing part. what we were surprised with was that it cost $50 to fuel the Prius. Then we took the Mini in and it cost nearly $70. Yes the Mini cost more to fuel than the Prius. The Mini has a bigger tank and takes premium. Yikes.

Part of the mystery surrounding five disembodied feet that have washed up on the shores of BC has been solved. The BC Coroner released information on Thursday that the remains of the right foot found on Feb 8 and the remains of a left foot found on June 16 were from the same guy. They also released that one of the feet was from a female. It also appears that the remains appear to have been naturally separated from the body due to decomposition. They still do not have any idea of whose feet they are,so the investigation still continues. All these feet have been found in running shoes. Earlier this week a foot was found in Sweden but no idea if there is any relation to the BC feet.

Today once Doug gets back from work, we are planning on going to see the Dragon Boat races. We thought about going yesterday but by the time we got done with all of our errands it was getting pretty warm so we put it off for a day. So that is it for now.

Take Care,

Marsh and Doug
