Canada Snowfall

This week's email has been written by Doug.

Well it's been an eventful week. Wednesday was quiet. Then about 1:30 Thursday  morning we were awakened by Thump, Thump, Thump on the roof. It had started to snow and the big tree in the neighbors yard (the one in the xmas card) collects snow on its branches and then drops snowballs on our bedroom roof. Once we knew what was going on we went back to sleep. By the time we got up the snow had turned to rain and the roads were clear. Most of the way anyway. The top of Rutherford road apparently was between two plowing zones. There was a hundred meter stretch near the peak with 4" on the pavement. Very strange. Work was very quiet that day as many folks could not make it in due to the snow.  When we heard that, Marsha and I just looked at each other and went, "What are they talking about?"  I guess we found  the threshold for snow by the Nanaimo natives.  By nightfall the snow was nearly all melted by the rain.

Saturday we, finally, went out for our birthdays. We went to a place we've mentioned before; The Blue Ginger. It is an Asian place, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Sushi. They do really good stuff. This time they seemed to be a little off balance though. The service was a bit slow and then they kept making mistakes. Barbara ordered prawns and vegetables and got only the vegetables. We pointed this out and she ran back and got the missing prawns. She was very apologetic. The other thing was my order. I didn't get what I ordered at all. It was some kind of vegetarian sushi with eggplant, strawberries, and unidentified bits of something. I really don't know what all was in it but whatever it was ended up being better than what I HAD ordered so I didn't mention it. Next time I go I'll have to figure out what the heck I ate though. All in all it was a fun evening with Barbara, Mike, and the two fm us.

On New Years Day we started watching the first Ghost in the Shell series, which I have on DVD. It is one of my favorite series. We finished it today and Marsha likes it as well. Now she knows why I keep talking about Tachikomas and wishing I had a cyberbrain.  So that is it for this week.
