Earth Shattering Events This Week

Good morning everyone.

Last week was busy but uneventful so I will try to make this email shorter than last weeks.

NCO is consolidating space so Doug and his co-worker Keith have been busy shuffling computers and monitors around. To make it easier they switched their hours so they could work together, so I was left driving by myself the whole 3 miles there and back. Actually it was not the drive that was so bad it was having to get up and leave at 4:30 when Doug was still comfy at home.

The weather has been great this last week. On Sunday Doug and I went to a local garden center, Art Knapp and purchased a couple of dwarf rhododendrons and an azalea.  I hope to plant them sometime this week so hopefully the weather will hold out.

We are working on getting things lined up for trip back to Minnesota. We have the boarding all set up for Geiger. This week we will make our reservations for the ferry over to Vancouver.  We decided we were going to try for an earlier ferry so we need to get permission to shuffle our work schedule around so we can leave early.

The colleges are finishing up around here and you can tell with the increase of hitchhikers.  Most hold up signs for towns up the Island such as Courtney or Campbell River. This week I saw one that read, JAPAN. I almost stopped just to see how he was planning to get to Japan by heading north on the Island. I didn't so I guess it will be an unsolved riddle so we can make up any story we want to.

The real big news of the week is that we have booked our 2009 Eclipse trip. The website for trip information is http://www.astronomyvacations.com/ClassicaItinerary.html in case any one is interested in joining us.  The trip will start in China then cruise to the South Korean island of Cheju and onto Japan and the eclipse on 7/22/09.

I hope you all enjoyed the pictures from last week. We did hear back that some folks had some problems seeing the slides. It apparently is due to not enough video ram, but if you can let us know who could and could not see the pictures we can expand on our hypothesis.

So that is it for another week on the Island.  Take care everyone!

Oh, I also got to see another Twins game yesterday. I thought they were going to lose it right there at the end, but managed to pull it out 9-8 over Boston.
