Things Are Busting Up All OVer

Nothing much new this week.  Work, work and more work, plus I am still attending class.  Class is going well - I don't have a new job yet, but I am getting my resume and cover letter writing skills up to date. This week we also did mock interview with one of our  instructors.  The next day we watched everyone's interviews and then provided feedback.  It was so weird watching myself on the screen. I felt like I was watching someone else telling my stories.  i can see why some actors do not want to see themselves on screen you don't even sound like yourself.

NCO is bumping up their starting wage so I am getting a raise too starting March 15.  I'm still not making enough but the job has given me the opportunity to find out more about the area, people and get out of the house.  Plus I have the benefit of car pooling and working with Doug. Something I do enjoy.

This week I had one of the classes I talked about last week.  The class was scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 6- 9 pm.   I was not looking forward to this as I have to get up at 3:45 in order to get to work by 5:00 am.  But when we got their the instructor asked if we would like to go longer on Tuesday and finish the class in just one night. We all said YES! so although Wednesday was a struggle to get up and stay away at least it was only for one day and not two.  There was a quiz given to our Super Host class about cities/towns in British Columbia. I have written the clues below.  We could not use any maps, but you guys can if you want.   Enjoy,  I will send out a separate email with the answers.

Well maybe not much this week for Marsha but for me it was an eventful week. I wish the story could start out 'I was on my Kawasaki going over the Malahat Pass and...' or 'I was on my skateboard doing a 720 and...' but it doesn't.

You know those orange lumber carts at Home Depot. (Silly me, everything at HD is orange.) Saturday we were getting plywood for the floor project. I was putting plywood in the cart. What I didn't realize that with each sheet the cart had rotated toward me a bit. As I bent to the side to set the fourth or fifth sheet into place I caught one of the steel bars under my rightside floating rib. It hurt a bit but mostly knocked the wind out of me for a second. I figured it was one of those things and promptly forgot about it.

Sunday my side was a little uncomfortable but I worked on the floor anyway. By Monday my side was hurting a lot. I went to my Dr. & discribed the pain. He prodded a bit. He said it might be a pinched nerve, but more likely a fracture of twelfth rib. I had kinda guessed that but hoped I was wrong. He didn't even take X-Rays. There's nothing he can do anyway. "If it hurts, don't do that. You'll feel better in a week or two." Actually it really isn't that bad. It only hurts when I lift things, or twist, or lay on that side, or laugh, or breathe. The big project, to lay a new floor in the kitchen and family room had to be put on hold until I could saw, or hammer, or kneel without pain. In the mean time I was sleeping on the heating pad and eating Advil like popcorn.

This week at work we were dealing with a number of issues, the biggest of which was due to the most common programmer error in the business "Let's just push this out, it won't impact the end users. Don't worry we don't need to test it beforehand." They pushed out several changes that caused massive issues for the users and us. I think it's a good thing that we're here and NCO and T-Mobile Corporate headquarters are on the east coast. There were times that one or more of us wanted to go do bodily harm to the twits that kept doing this. Those of you in FSS know this urge very well.

But on the up side at home the new floor project is coming along again. By Saturday my rib felt good enough for me to start work again. I''m now about 2/3 done. Once I finish we'll send pictures of before and after. it really is an improvement. Though there is more of an echo. The other problem is that Geiger just doesn't understand hard surface floors. when he tries to run he slips, so he puts out his claws which makes him slip even more. This morning he tried to take off running and skidded so bad he fell over and ended up flat on his side.

Just to give you an idea about how warm it has been here, see how are plants are starting to bloom!
