Happy BC Day
03/08/08 06:44
Monday is a BC Day and is a holiday here in British Columbia. Doug and I however are both working, which is OK as we had nothing special planned anyway. This weekend went over to Barbara's, hit a few garage sales and then went down to the ocean for awhile. The weather was beautiful and it was so relaxing. Which was good as today both Doug and I were busy in the house.
We had a light in the guest bedroom that was a bit too bright, so an earlier owner put it on a dimmer. We also had a fan in the family room that was too small to do much good and with only one small bulb didn't put out enough light. We decided to fix this properly. We took the light from the bedroom and put it in the family room where the two bulbs can now fill the room with light. Then we took the fan and, after replacing the dimmer with a switch, put it in the small bedroom where it can stir up a good wind. Now both rooms are much more comfortable. Then Doug replaced the faucet in his bathroom so it matched the one in mine. Then today, we have started to paint the kitchen. The place is painted a very neutral tan/light brown/unexciting-in-any-possible way taupe sort of color. I was only a matter of time before that had to change. We have a warm rich blue that we got from a ceramic British made antique canister set we got last year. We are not sure yet how far we are going to go with the color (down the hallway and into the entry are the areas in question) but we can decide that later.
Last week I was informed I won $150 at work. There was an overtime contest and whenever you put in 2 extra hours your name was put in the draw. There were 6 winners and I was one of them. The money should be on the check I get on Friday. Doug and I also received our Climate Action Dividend from the BC government. Most everyone is referring to it as the Carbon Tax Rebate. The government put more taxes on all carbon energy sources and this was their way of making everyone feel better about paying more at the gas pump.
As some of you know like to build models. Not the normal airplanes or cars though. These are odd models usually of fictional things few people have heard of. For the last couple of months I've been working on another one. It is the Swordfish II from the series Cowboy Bebop (and if you know what that is, you're as big a geek as I am). Last week I finally finished it. Before I put it on the shelf I took some pictures and added it to my web site.

I also experimented with a different javascript tool to make an interesting slideshow effect on the web page. Just click on the thumbnails to advance to the next picture or go back to the last one. I've tested this with Safari, Opera, and Firefox 2 and it seems to work, though I did notice that you it was a bit balky at first and you may need to hit reload a time or two before the thumbnails will load and work properly.
And now back to Marsha.
Here are some more pictures from last week's walk at Piper's Lagoon.
