Farewell January
25/01/09 18:41
The fog has broken and we were finally able to see some sun, unfortunately there is now talk about possible snow tonight or tomorrow. In fact some places actually had snow this morning. Thank goodness we just had frost. I am in no hurry to get any more snow!
This week started out pretty good as it was my last week in class for H&R Block. Agnes one of the ladies I took the original class in was also in some of my classes so that gave us a chance to catch up with each other. Agnes has a B&B in Courtney that Doug and I are hoping to make it to some time. However the week did not end so well.
Yesterday I received a call that a good friend Sheila had passed away. I knew that she had not been doing well lately, but it was still a shock to hear the news. Sheila was a wonderful friend and mentor to me and I will miss her dearly. Sheila had joined Doug and I on many eclipse trips and had planned to join us for the solar eclipse trip in July 2009 until her recent diagnosis of cancer. I guess we will have to drink a toast to her memory. I have to say the trip will just not be the same without her.
No work tomorrow so Barbara and I are going to do some shopping and walking. if the snow holds off, perhaps I'll even make it back down to the beach. Last time I was there, I found some beach glass and a sand dollar.
The pictures attached were taken at the beach in Lantzville. With all of the snow melting there is a lot of run off . Normally this area is just a small stream.
So until next week,
Marsh and Doug
