Early Mid-Winter

It is winter
Frost covers all the windows
Good thing I know the road

The last couple of weeks we've been working on a puzzle. Marsha picked up a 1000 piece puzzle map of Canada. It's been a lot of fun and as well it has helped our knowledge of Canadian geography substantially. Now we know where Nunikluktaklulnuk is. It's right next to Oniguniklunanuktulunuk on the Lord Stuffybottom Sound between Greenland and Prince Rupert. You can't miss it. We also have learned just how BIG Canada is. Nanaimo, Victoria, and Vancouver make a tiny little triangle in the lower left corner of the map. There's a lot of Canada we still have to explore.

Work on the entryway floor continues. The tile we ordered came in, we went with a 13" ceramic tile that looks like sandstone. It even has a degree of roughness that is different from the usual vitreous shine of ceramic tile. Once we get the space prepped with cement board we're going to call in some help. We have a friend that is really good at this kind of thing and has the tools to do it right.

One of the big news stories this week has been the airline crash in New York. This is because the plane was made by Bombardier, a Canadian company. That's one of the most amazing things about Canada. National stories are presented like local stories. We'll often hear about a car crash in Newfoundland, or a big event in Winnipeg along with something that happened in Vancouver. Canada is like a big small town in that regard. In this case the worry is that if the crash was ultimately the fault of the airplane then it would make Bombardier look bad and they are OUR airplane company.

That's all for this week.
