Random Events in a Disorganized Universe

Visitors

We had visitors this weekend. Anita, her two kids Paige and Allan and her friend Sarah. They arrived Thursday. I worked a short day and Marsha went down to get them. We chatted had dinner at A&W and then crashed. Friday morning I discovered that Marsha and I live in a different universe from teenagers. We got up at 4:00 am and started work at 5:00. Marsha and I both got in most of our day at work. I got 6 hours in and knocked off at 11:00 when Paige and Allan finally woke up. Then we grabbed some lunch and did some sightseeing. The idea of working at 5:00 am was not even something they could understand. The rest of that day was nice except that it was HOT. Worst of all it was absolutely still. Even people seemed to slow down in the stifling heat. It was like walking through clear warm water, motions seemed slower and everything took more effort. It was nearly 11:00 that night by the time we got everyone to bed. Saturday was much cooler. We went to the opening ceremonies of the Dragon Boat Races. Then visited with Barbara for a while. Dinner was pizza, Canadian TV, and free internet access for the kids while the adults went down to the pub for Fish & Chips and a pint. (I of course being a Vegetarian and the designated driver had neither, opting for the traditional Vegetable-Hippi-Mix and a glass of seawater.) Sunday I drove them down to Victoria to catch their ferry. We allowed a lot of extra time so we could wander around Chemainus and have lunch and then in Victoria took in the Harbour Craft Fair and Ska Festival. It was a lot of fun.

That's it for this weekend. We're still recovering so the note is a bit short. I'm making up for it with lots of pictures.
