Happy Easter
04/04/10 06:08
Another busy week on the Island for the Aalseths. Doug was suppose to have Friday and of course this weekend off, but Mother Nature apparently did not know or perhaps just did not care. On Friday there was a big wind storm and it caused many electrical outages including both sites that Doug supports. Unfortunately the outages also caused a number of computer problems. Doug spent Friday driving back and forth from Nanaimo to Parksville working on the problems. The drive back and forth on Friday was made more exciting by the downed electrical wires and trees. He is off again this morning and we are hoping he will get things fixed in time to go to Barbara's for Easter dinner. Speaking of Barbara, she lost her power for most of Friday. Her son Mike took her out to lunch and we had her over for dinner. We were lucky not to have lost our power at all.
Here is a link to a utube video that someone took at Pipers Lagoon during the wind storm. Pipers Lagoon is one of our favourite places to walk along the ocean and we have included many pictures from there in prior emails.

Last weekend, Doug and I went to a used booksale sponsored by the Friends of the Vancouver Island Library. As part of the sale they also had a raffle for a basket of stuff. The tickets were cheap and it was for a good cause, so I purchased three tickets. I promptly forgot about it figuring I would never win it. In fact I did not even look at what was in the basket. So after the sale and running a few errands, we went home and I went to work in the garden. Pretty soon Doug comes running out saying I got a call. I asked who it was and he said he had no idea because he could not find my phone in time to answer it, but they left a message. Well you probably guessed it by now, I checked my message and found out I had won the basket. Yippee!! I have attached some pictures of the basket and the goodies included.
So that's it for this week. We hope everyone has a great Easter, enjoys their time with their families and drives safely.
There are also a couple of pictures from the wedding shower Barbara and I attended on Sunday. Robyn is marrying Mario (Barbara's grandson) on May 29, which also happens to be Barbara's birthday.
